Abstract

Stress and anxiety are frequent challenges experienced by both students and teachers in inclusive classrooms, where diverse learning needs and abilities are present. Tackling these challenges in a thoughtful and supportive way is key to promoting well-being, helping everyone succeed academically, and creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all. In the context of teacher education for inclusive settings, effectively managing stress and anxiety is crucial for preparing future educators to address the diverse needs of all students. This paper will concentrate on strategies designed to enhance the well-being of pupil-teachers, who frequently experience heightened pressures as they move from being students to educators, especially in inclusive classroom settings. Pupil-teachers face the dual challenge of developing pedagogical expertise while simultaneously addressing the diverse and complex needs as students. The paper will examine the psychological effects of these challenges on pupil-teachers and emphasize practical strategies for managing stress and anxiety, including mindfulness, time management, emotional regulation techniques, and peer support systems. Furthermore, the paper will investigate the role of teacher education programs in promoting resilience and self-care practices, enabling pupil-teachers to effectively manage the emotional and professional challenges associated with inclusive education. This paper aims to equip pupil-teachers with resources to improve their mental well-being, thereby enabling them to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that promote the well-being of both themselves and their future students. Furthermore, incorporating regular self-care habits, such as physical activity and adequate sleep, contributes to overall well-being, better preparing pupil-teachers to cope with the emotional and professional challenges of their roles.
