However, their impact on internal organs is a growing concern, particularly with prolonged use. This review article explores the effects of first- and second-generation AEDs on various internal organs, including the liver, kidneys, heart, and gastrointestinal system. The article synthesizes current research to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential risks associated with these medications, highlighting the need for careful monitoring and individualized treatment strategies.
