Abstract

Chemical burns to the eyes are one of the most dangerous injuries to the visual organs, as they can lead to serious complications, up to complete loss of vision. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), thousands of cases of chemical eye burns are recorded annually worldwide, with about 20% of them leading to significant loss of visual function. The highest risk of such injuries is observed in industrial enterprises, the chemical and construction industries, as well as in domestic settings, especially when using cleaning and aggressive chemical agents [1, 3, 8]. In Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Health, there has been a 15% increase in the number of patients with chemical eye injuries over the past five years. About 60% of all chemical burns are associated with exposure to industrial agents (acids, alkalis, solvents), while 40% of cases occur in domestic settings. Approximately 80% of patients seek medical help late, which significantly worsens the prognosis of treatment and increases the risk of complications [4, 5, 10].
