Abstract

Cystitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bladder wall. It is often observed in women, which is explained by the specific features of the anatomical structure of their urinary tract. Rarely in men, it usually occurs due to inflammatory processes in other pelvic organs. The risk of pathology is related to the possibility of the infection spreading to the kidneys through the urinary tract. Dysuria (frequent and painful urination, false urges, a feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder after urination);

discomfort, pain above the pubis, in the anus or perineum;

blood in the urine, especially at the end of urination (a consequence of the contraction of the inflamed mucous membrane of the organ);

changes in the transparency of urine (it becomes cloudy due to the high content of red blood cells, bacteria, leukocytes, desquamated epithelium);

increase in body temperature to a subfebrile level, general weakness.

Chronic cystitis occurs in waves - periods of exacerbation of the disease alternate with remissions. During the exacerbation of the disease, the symptoms of cystitis in women are similar to those in the acute form of the disease, but they are not so clear. In remission, the patient's condition is satisfactory, cystitis symptoms are minimal or absent.
