Abstract

COVID-19 infection negatively affects not only the respiratory system but also the balance of normal gut microflora. The aim of this study was to conduct a clinical and microbiological assessment of dysbiotic changes in patients with COVID-19. Patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 were stratified according to disease severity. Intestinal microflora was analyzed using standard bacteriological culture methods. The results demonstrated a significant decrease in beneficial microorganisms and an increase in opportunistic microflora. The severity of dysbiosis was directly associated with the clinical severity of the disease. These findings emphasize the clinical importance of evaluating and correcting gut microflora as part of comprehensive COVID-19 management.
